I'm very against removing statues of Confederate Leaders and monuments of the Civil War. America can't rewrite History nor should Americans erase significant figures of History because they held some views that are vilified in the context of what is acceptable today. The South has a rich past and it should not be discarded or hidden from view.

I am split on this. Germany outlawed the Nazi party and all statues and buildings named after Hitler. The Germans won lots of battles, but I don't see statues of the generals that fought during WW2. I don't recall the same banning of confederate symbols during Reconstruction.
On one hand, I don't think we should hide from our history. On the other, I'm not keen on celebrations of traitors on public property.
Good perspective. We cannot change history. However, we can decide who should and shouldn't be honored. Confederate soldiers should NEVER be honored, period.
This is all part of the effort to create Fake History. What actually happened will be replaced by what the thought police think should have happened.
No he'll last. But it will be said he followed the rules and was an orderly leader in a sea of chaos.
