Yes.

Health Savings Accounts and tax deductions aren't going to work for a broad swath of Americans.

Those who can afford $1,000/month health insurance premiums, either own a business that is doing well and have already figured out a way to deduct this as a business expense, or work at a job that provides health insurance benefits and use HSAs to cover glasses, cough syrup and co-pays.

Nearly everyone who is not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare, or employee-subsidized health insurance will be uninsured.

Not having affordable insurance options available, stifles entrepreneurship, penalizes those working lower-wage jobs, and overloads our hospital Emergency Rooms. It's not a fair playing field for manufacturers competing with products from countries that have national health insurance.

We've tried to legislate health insurance affordability. We all agree. It doesn't work. Colossal failure. Huge, really.

"Medicare for everyone."

I agree.

It's time.

This.

Clueless lower upper class kid who grew up to be clueless middle upper class blowhard.

Health insurance for a couple is 2 Iphones per month. Then again I have a 7 year old slider with a cracked screen. I also pay per year what others pay per month for cell.

edit: Gothereasquick, well said.

Exactly.

The cost of health insurance premiums reported on this forum are shocking.

There is no way anyone even making $40,000/year is going to be able to pay $10,000 of that for health insurance premiums. Impossibility.

In addition to those who have insurance through their employers, we insure all the old people, some of the poor people, and most of the kids.

The only ones who go without insurance are our workers.

Aside from being needlessly cruel, seems hopelessly short-sighted.

Odd that Chaffetz didn't include blinged out pickup trucks, snowmobiles and John Deere Gators in his comments about discretionary purchases

HENCE California Lt. Gov Gavin Newsom's tweet:

So perhaps Chaffetz should tell the truth and suggest to non-rich citizens that they should consider being homeless or not eating in order to afford health care because that's really the only alternative he and the GOP is offering.

Well if things cost hundreds of thousands for so many, unless they insure themselves, there isn't enough other people's money to pay for it all.

Whoa, hold on. It was Obama who made the claim that you could buy a good health care plan for about what you pay for your cellphone bill.

The iPhone reminds me of Obamacare. Some people can afford neither one.

Bankruptcy courts weren't put in place for the poor.
