Need anymore examples?
I don't think we have a universally accepted definition of a conservative. Ronald Reagan was for smaller government and lower taxes. Conservative, right? But he also was responsible for blowing up the debt. If reducing the national debt is your yardstick, then Bill Clinton is the only conservative President we've had in recent memory.

More the coal industry, these days. What's left of it. Tobacco is on the way out everywhere, even where it's traditionally been grown (Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina), and the big companies are diversifying. The old warehouse auction system is defunct, and buyers go directly to the growers nowadays. Much American tobacco is sold overseas rather than domestically.

Of course, coal is also on the way out, but more people in Kentucky depended on it than depended on very labor-intensive tobacco farming (or tobacco auctions and warehouses, or USDA employment related to tobacco), and those former coal miners want so much to believe it's coming back.

Kind of like a cargo cult... and McConnell plays directly into those unrealistic hopes.

Difference now is Trump is cutting fedral spending. A start, but at least an attempt to approach a balance between spending and saving.

The results of the spending is intended to create jobs and boost the economy to further balance the budget and pay off debt. something obama never did.
Stop it. I didn't fall off a turnip truck onto my head. Gimme a break.

Agreed. Many of the congress critters will claim being conservative but when you look at their records their actions betray them. Santorum proclaimed he was conservative yet he voted to raise the budget 5 or 6 times.

From the word conserve. Use less of. Smaller Federal government and the belief in states rights like the Constitution says.
Reagan ran on conservative values and changed once he got into office. He ended up raising taxes. It's not necessarily about debt, although nothing wrong with living within ones means, however it is always about spending.

What part of spending 1 trillion on infra structure while keeping us involved in costly wars confuses you? If that isn't cutting spending... oh wait.......

Well, now congressional Rs are in firm control. Trump will have even less ability/inclination to block them than Obama did. Congratulations. You won.

Right, right.

And Obama, Pelosi, or Debbie Wasserman-Schultz don't represent liberalism. Being a Democrat doesn't mean one is liberal. Only a very uniformed person would think otherwise.

Oh, yeah. Obama doesn't represent liberals. You don't know anything about liberals if you think the establishment types like Pelosi, Wasserman-Schultz, or Chuck Schumer are representatives of liberals.
