You mean the fact that when he said wiretapping he actually didn't mean wiretapping?
No, more like those who are hung up on 'golden showers' don't know (or ignore) that that was a deliberately fabricated fake story, but still like go guffaw over it.
Your example is much like when Obama said we have 57 states. He misspoke and we accepted that.
It's still funny, but we let it go. It's hard to believe a President doesn't know how many states his own country has.
It's not hard to believe that a person outside the intelligence world might use the terms wiretapping and surveillance as conveying the same idea -- that of being secretly watched.
I honestly think Trump released his 2005 taxes as a distraction. It was likely the least damaging of his returns. His health plan is not going over well and his Obama wire tap accusations are funny and the GOP seems to be openly attacking each other. The problem is the 2005 tax return didn't really stick, so what's next? A twitter fight with Schwarzenegger?
Actually, on the tax returns, he duped the Democrats on that!
Hey, maybe he can take a play from the Clinton playbook and say in a thundering voice "The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming! Clinton was right!"
Trump is doing great, surprised you haven't heard. His supporters are pleased with his performance. The only ones that have an issue are those duped into believing that Hillary Clinton was going to be POTUS , and of course, the tax return thing!

But, one might expect someone who receives (yeah, right...) daily intelligence briefings, etc., to know the difference between the two terms. Y'know... like maybe the prez?
Yes, when the prez says soemthing wrong, he should clarify or correct it - obama actually corrected himself about his 57 states comment.
Have we ever seen anything from trump saying that he used the wrong word? Noooooo... He and his staff just doubled down on the it for days on end. Until, that is, they decided that wasn't really what he said. So, are we just stuck with spicer and conway making up little stories about what 'he really meant to say'.
As the great manipulator said himself, he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and his supporters would still back him. There is no reasoning with ignorance. Why waste your time?
