The DOD budget will grow 10%, the State Dept. will be cut by 28%, HHS by 17.8%, EPA 31%. Homeland would increase $2.8B.

I don't see this getting through congress but is this what voters wanted, more spending for defense and security and massive cuts everywhere else.

WASHINGTON — President Trump will send a budget to Congress on Thursday that sharply reorders the nation’s priorities by spending billions of dollars on defending the southern border and bolstering the Pentagon while severely cutting funds for foreign aid, poverty programs and the environment.

“You can’t drain the swamp and leave all of the people in it,” Mick Mulvaney, the White House’s budget director, said during a briefing on Wednesday.

Trump has told the auto companies to ignore the gas mileage numbers and emissions controls which he is going to take the law away. Great choice for America....

More on budget from CNN:
Trump's 'hard power budget' increases defense spending, cuts to State Dept, EPA - CNNPolitics.com

Through all the hand wringing about this proposed budget, the bolded in your post is the bottom line re: priorities.

The increases don't balance out with the cuts, funny that he claims he is cutting to make these agencies more efficient but of all the departments DOD get's an increase, seems like they are the first to come to mind when you state the words "waste".

No department should receive an increase.

Yes the car companies are complaining about meeting the new requirements, heard this before with prior mileage requirements, air bags, catalytic converters. Lets' go back to the 90's, we are the land of unlimited resources let's use them up.

Can someone explain how gutting the State Department is a smart move? Is diplomacy a bad thing now? Is our only goal to go to war?

Behold the reasons for the average cost of a new car being $34,000.

With all the mandates, cars have pretty much become a govt creation with the manufactures being able to choose shape and color. Progress I guess

And what has this diplomacy gotten us over the years?

We've send ship loads of tax payer cash overseas.

We've sent our troops overseas.

We've sent bombs and missiles overseas.

We've sent jobs overseas.

We're $20 trillion in debt. I think it's time we worry more about ourselves and less about what we can do to change what others are doing.
