There is also a yuge difference between debt and deficit, which you apparently don't understand. In order to reduce the debt, we would have run a surplus. That hasn't happened since Bill Clinton. Do you honestly expect the US will run a surplus in 2017?

Others have already asked for examples of what Trump has done that reduced the debt this year, but I have not seen any response.

Indeed. This topic is about the National debt. It has gone down $100B under Trump. Under Obama it went up $400B.

It's not any more complicated than that.

Not exactly. In fact, the answer shows how moot this whole thread is.

The President submits a budget proposal. It is not legally binding in any way. It is just an outline of what the President would like to see happen. Congress doesn't vote on it.

Congress then comes up with their own budget. This is the Budget Resolution. It is not signed by the President. In fact, the budget resolution is also not legally binding; it's just an outline of what Congress intends to do.

The only thing that actually determines how much money is spent are actual appropriation bills, which are passed by Congress and then signed by the President. So the only way a President could directly affect the US budget is by vetoing individual appropriations bills.

Very likely there was no Trump budget for 2017.

That doesn't seem to stop you from giving him credit, though. Doesn't seem logical to me, but that's never stopped you before..

LOLOLOL....

First of all REAL NEWS not fake news would sya -- that during Trump's first month the debt was reduced. There was absolutely not one financial policy that was introduced by this administration that owuld have had that kind of impact in the first month.

And I hope you know that...and I seriously doubt you think any of us wouldn't be able to see through this silly little game.

Pathetic...funny--- desperate......but not relevant....

The "yuge" difference is that Trump wants to rebuild America and Obama wanted to break America! I just knew most of us still had that drive that our ancestors had to survive!

Indeed.

And as demonstrated by the responses here, it's causing heads to explode.

Imagine that if it had been the other way around. It would be front page MSM news and we'd have a dozen topics on it.
