No doubt about it. The Democrat party was devastated under Barack Hussein Obama's leadership. From 2008 - 2016 the Democrats ceased to be a national political force.

Let's look at the facts & statistics.
  • Hillary won popular primary vote in 2008
  • Despite this, Barack Hussein Obama was nominated after the Black Congressional Conference switched its super delegate votes from Hillary.
  • Obama beat McCain. Hillary would have beaten the hapless McCain too.
So look what happened to the Democrats under Obama's leadership.

  • Democrats lose control of US House
  • Democrats lose a majority of state governorships.
  • Democrats lose control of the US Senate in a grand slam defeat of incumbent Democrats
  • Democrats now only control 31 of 98 partisan state chambers
  • Democrats lose the US Presidency in a stunning defeat of the century in 2016
  • Over 1100 seats change hand from Democrats to Republicans
  • Democrats have not been so powerless in more than 120 years. So far back in time that most homes didn't have telephones, TV had not been invented, and electricity wasn't standardized.
So if Hillary had been nominated and elected in 2008 and held office of 8 years, would they be in better shape now? Would Trump even be President?

What do you think?

No.

I don't think the United States was ready for a black president though, and the Left got complacent between presidential elections.

I honestly don't know. I'm not a democrat, so I never really thought about it - but it is a great debate topic. I'll look forward to reading the thoughts of those smarter than I.

LMAO! That is what they were saying before the election. Six months ago they said the Republican party was through. There would never be another Republican president. Suprise!

I think the situation would've been the same. They were pretty much similar brands of mainstream democrats.

Why are liberals so damn fixated on skin color? My god! It's not the mans skin color that failed us, it was his policies. How many times do you have to be told before you'll get it through your thick heads?

Maybe? I was ready to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2008 when she stepped down with the promise that she would be the candidate in 2016. I believe Hillary would have won in 2008, geesh, just about anyone would have against what the GOP presented in both 2008 and 2012, as I always suspected they threw the election in those years.

Obama, being black, had the upper hand to try to divide, separate and try to conquer America in his revenge for our "imperialism", something in his head was squirrely. Clinton would not have had it as easy although she would have worked hard to divide and conquer.

Thankfully, neither one of them will rear their ugly heads in the White House again.

No neither was ideal choices. Obama was a president I liked but couldn't vote for either time. The US didn't really improve until halfway through his second term. Hillary was a crook but less of a crook than the one in the White House who is now taking more vacation time and money than Obama did in an entire year.

I think it was but it wasn't. As for complacency, the issue was it seemed like a rigged election for Hillary to win to get the nomination. Besides Sanders (whom had the deck stacked against him with the super delegates,) the other candidates were sock puppets.
