The move of the Vinson strike group is in response to recent North Korean provocations, the official said.
It is not uncommon for aircraft carriers to operate in that area, and the United States regularly deploys military assets, such as aircraft, to the region as a show of force. In fact, the Vinson was in South Korea last month for military exercises.
Earlier this week, North Korea launched a Scud extended-range missile, which US officials said exploded in flight. The regime also has recently conducted several missile engine tests as it works to improve its ballistic missile technology.
The Vinson strike group will operate in the Western Pacific rather than executing previously planned port visits to Australia, Pacific Command said. The group will remain under the operational control of the Third Fleet.
I would, hopefully, think that Russia or China would have the sense NOT to start a global nuclear war. Iran, on the other hand, is a bit crazy and fanatical enough to actually DO it, yet Obama and the morons in Congress let them get nukes.
Hopefully, if Trump doesn't act, Bibi will and destroy the Iranian nuclear facilities before they can get to that point (even if it DOES start World War III, it HAS to be done.)
As for North Korea and China, I had thought of getting a covert operation through South Korea and Japan and Taiwan to oust Fat Boy in North Korea and have South Korea control North Korea, thus uniting Korea and putting a buffer on China's southern border. Then, we use Taiwan on the eastern side and Japan too, to keep China in and end their little game in the South China Sea.
As for Iran, cut off all that money that Traitor-in-Chief Obama sent them and also help the Persian people there oust the dictatorship.
Russia does crap like this all the time! They buzzed our carriers and the like many times undet weakling Obama. Display of power keeps the other nuke countries on their toes. This is proven cold war strategy. Except you know we don't have 2 b52s armed with real NUKES circling the globe 24/7 to deliver the final payload on the USSR.
It bothers me greatly the ignorance of some posters to the sacrifices America and allies including Russia have made in recent history to protect the world from evil.
A display/exercise of power will ensure it is known that America is still the greatest military force the world has ever seen. It is essential to our survival that our military might is known. Walk softly but carry a big stick. Proof? No nuclear or world war in 70 years due to overwhelming American strength and the assurance of mutual destruction. Grim but proven strategy.
