If he wasn't taking golf vacations every weekend? Maybe if he took some time to actually connect with members of Congress instead of assuming he can order them around at the final moment?

It would have helped if he actually read it before he started pushing it on Congress. One of the things that disgusted the Freedom Caucus so much was that they said it was obvious he had no idea what was in it as he was trying to sell it to them. He told them not to worry about that ****, just pass it in order to give his administration a "win."

He's as lazy as they come.

The lack of respect Donald has for the presidency and the WH is disgusting.

He was supposed to go to KY the weekend before TrumpCare was voted on. He was supposed to discuss healthcare with KY politicians. But he decided not to attend and he sent Pence as his replacement. Trump went to Mar-a-Lago instead. And to his golf course property in Palm Beach the same weekend.

He didn't bother to discuss healthcare in Ky with politicians -including 2 US Senators and the head of the US Senate. Nope - not on a weekend. Trump has a 2nd job on the weekends and he has to visit Trump properties to hobnob with the paying guests.

Most any healthcare bill would have passed if the GOP hadn’t removed critical items from the Affordable Care Act. Things like this make the Trump bill unacceptable because you are buying insurance that doesn’t cover anything. Read the list of what was “removed†from the ACA.

Key to the deal, they report, are changes to the law that would eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s “essential health benefits,â€
  • Outpatient care without a hospital admission, known as ambulatory patient services
  • Emergency services
  • Hospitalization
  • Pregnancy, maternity, and newborn care
  • Mental health and substance use disorder services, including counseling and psychotherapy
  • Prescription drugs
  • Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices, which help people with injuries and disabilities to recover
  • Laboratory services
  • Preventive care, wellness services, and chronic disease management
  • Pediatric services, including oral and vision care for children
If you gut the bill why buy insurance?

Trump had no health care bill. It is obvious at this point he never care about. His campaign promise was insurance for all and the government would pay for it. A very left wing proposal. Not only did he latch on to ryancare he negotiated it even farther right.

The only reason I can think his base still follows him after this abject betrayal is that they do not care about healthcare.

The only way could get a health care bill similar to what he campaigned for is to wait until the Democrats win both houses. The House Republicans want either a weaker plan or no plan at all and the Senate will not agree with the House.

He could have appealed to moderates on both sides. My only conclusion by his actions is that healthcare was never a concern of his. Just an empty promise to get elected.

No. Donald Trump knows nothing about healthcare.
