I think your Democratic Party is a moderate right wing to maybe centralist party. Even some of our members of the Conservative Party of Canada would be considered socialists by some Americans.

I would say the US falls right in the middle of the authoritarian/right quadrant on the political compass. (Democrats go on the authoritarian/left quadrant, for the most part.)

I would argue that it leans slightly left, based on Pew's analysis of political preferences:

Some Americans consider anyone left of Cruz to be socialist.

I would consider the US to be center to slightly center-left. I know this is going to hurt alot of feelings on the right wing of this forum but the reality is that the Democrats are center-left by all accepted standards. They are far from being far left commies. The GOP is right to far right by accepted standards. The GOP was center-right to right up until the early 1990s, then they went waaaaay too far to the right. Sorry folks

Let me put it this way, the conservative parties in British commonwealth realms consider themselves to be roughly aligned with our Democrats in terms of domestic policy.

From outside I'd say yes, you look this on the whole:

a large gap between the very rich and the very poor
a strong private sector in key fields like healthcare and education
a huge public military budget at the expense of those for education/healthcare
low taxation for the rich
the fact that you can go to jail for even ridicolous "crime" like cursing to a cop
the fact that you can get legally shot by a cop for bs
ongoing wars all over since the beginning
death penalty
capitalism and the dollar as the true faith in place of God, the Bible...
...
