Looks like even Jerry Brown knows it can't be done.

Yes, a good part of it. As Milton Friedman stated, "You can have open borders or you can have a welfare state. You cannot have both."

The state way underestimates the amount of people from Central America and Mexico are living in the state and crowded into apartments.

The amount of unhealthy behavior in California is incredible. There are greasy restaurants on almost every corner that serve meals of 1,500 calories or more.

Despite, the rich Californians having healthy beach lifestyles. There is a massive middle-class and poor bad lifestyle problem.

It's basically like the tenement conditions of the past in the poor and middle-class areas of California with huge amounts in small houses, spreading disease.

There is also a massive amount of diabetes in California.

46% of Californians are pre-diabetic.

Are you pre-diabetic? 46% of California adults are, UCLA study finds - LA Times

Another thing is California has expensive union nurses and very expensive doctors compared to other parts of the United States.

So you are saying that unions and lose borders put a strain on the welfare state?

Because we are busy spending 100s of Billions on other things that the Federal Government is required to care for, and because the free market is more than capable of solving this problem for the majority of Americans if it were allowed to. For those that the free market didn't help, then the government could come up with a much smaller and much less expensive program to provide for.

Ask the loving Republicans. They want government out of our lives.

I think California should come up with their own universal healthcare plan. Massachusetts does it. It should be a state thing, not a federal thing. That way, everyone in charge is entirely accountable to their voters. You don't get that accountability at the federal level.

If they set up universal health-care in California, half the rednecks in the country would move there, to take advantage of it.
