I didn't know weed dealers accepted EBT. Sounds like those lawmakers should have something better to do.

If EBT funds are federal dollars (which I think they are), then the clear answer should be no, if only speaking from a legal sense. Like it or not, marijuana remains illegal under federal law as enacted by the people's representatives. Hence, federal dollars should never be spent to purchase goods that are prohibited under federal law. Don't like it then change the law.

They don't. Legal weed dealers here in Washington won't take plastic, because most banks won't accept the charges. However a few are experimenting with bitcoin, which will apparently take plastic. EBT is completely off the table.

I think this proposal is a solution in search of a problem, and the most likely problem is the legislator is suffering from a lack of attention.

Press Checking.
Enter the dollar amount you want.
Take your cash from the machine.
Wait for your card and receipt.

I think this applies if you are in a legal state.

I don't think EBT cards should be used to purchase marijuana, alcohol, or cigarettes.
