It is time to decriminalize marijuana.

Save on law enforcement, court costs, and prison expense.

Decrease profitability of drug cartels.

Ease the tension in the country.

There is only one Republican that I'm aware of who supports legalization and thats Dana Rohrbacher of California. With a regressive like our Attorney General we will still be having a reefer madness stance on the issue.

Good but largely pointless at this stage.

Congress is run by authoritarians. The executive branch is stuffed with hateful people who want to tell others what to do. Trump probably doesn't have a strong feelin one way or the other but he'll be against legalization once he learns hat it would harm the private for-profit prison industry, which already successfully purchased the administration.

Some things are not worth the fight. Pot is one of them. They should also expunge felonies of previous convictions that involved amounts for personal consumption.

Oh, I dunno. States are vitally interested in revenue, and legal pot is a very nice chunk of change.

I agree that expunging previous convictions is a good idea, but this package is intended to address concerns that have arisen due to the differences between federal law and "legal pot" states. I think it's a good strategic move. Hold-out states might be more inclined to loosen their laws if some of these differences were resolved.

Even Jeff Sessions has to deal with reality.
