The Trump Train is hitting on all cylinders. Get used to winning folks I provided a CNBC link intentionally, just to save the left a little time.

Caused by big drop in cell phone imports. What did Trump do to discourage people from buying new phones, I wonder? People must be waiting for that new Chinese made iphone. No wait. Trump said Apple was going to make it here. LOL.

Stumbled across this thread and thought I'd give an update:

The US trade deficit is actually *growing* a bit since late last year:

And another update. So much winning!

U.S. trade deficit shows no sign of shrinking - MarketWatch
Quote:
The trade deficit rose slightly in July, keeping the U.S. on track to post a larger gap in 2017 than in 2016.

The deficit edged up to $43.7 billion in July from $43.5 billion in June, the Commerce Department said Wednesday. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a $44.8 billion gap.

The U.S. trade deficit is running almost 10% higher through the first seven months of 2017 compared to the same period in year before: $319.1 billion vs $291.2 billion. A bigger deficit subtracts from gross domestic product, the official scorecard for the U.S. economy.

The Trump effect would be just now starting to hit; if anything. The economy does not turn on a dime.

It can go south on a dime. Remember George W Bush?

Agreed. But the OP did not seem to think so.

Even the mess in 2008 did not fully show until late 2010.

Since there has been ZERO action in regards to China or anywhere else, what "pretend" Trump train is gonna hit??

Just bought two pairs of shops at Rockport - made in Vietnam.

Not a single thing has changed - nor will it. If the OP weren't a cheerleader and believed in what we call "Reality", he'd wait until after the iphone launch and the holiday season and then show us all.....unfortunately, what he would show us is likely an INCREASE in imports.

But since that doesn't fit his narrative, we won't hear it.

Not having read the article....but isn't it amazing that our economy has been growing for the last few years and we are slowly seeing the benefits of the corporate expansions in the USA.

It would be difficult to expect any trade deficit to really be drastically reduced because of any policies of business plans that might have been implemented six months ago. Things don't happen that fast..

But the USA economy is doing well and has been, very impressive. Slow and steady. Let's continue that trend that has been going on now for a few years.
