Trumpy has no empathy for humans. So why would he have empathy for animals and have a pet?

I cannot.

Maybe a cat though. I could definitely see her with an aloof cat.
I'd expect that the pet would be for his son Barron, not for his wife.

And if nothing else, a dog as a pet in the White House would be good political optics

Yeah, I have to totally agree with that!
I keep thinking isn't there a saying about a man's character, who has never loved a dog?

Of course he would probably have to tie a pork chop around his neck to get a dog to even come near him, and a cat would probably hiss and spit at him, lol!
What an asinine thread based on a 5 month old daily mail story. Trying to meet a quota?

For food? Nothing. As trophies? I find it despicable. But my sense is you're good with it.

Great. Nobody should subject animals to be their slaves. Keeping a pet is slavery, causing more harm to animals and definitely not natural.

As long as trophy hunts are used as part of a responsible management plan, I see it as a positive.

Personally, I could never shoot a deer, lion or bear, but I still appreciate the fact that proper population control benefits the animals being managed.

The vast majority of hunters out for trophies donate the meat, if applicable, to local people or charities.

My cat vehemently disagrees with you.

Not having pets is showing empathy to animals.
