That's the whole point and you're disregarding it. Chemical warfare is outlawed for very good reasons. You can kill people quietly by the millions if you like and have the capacity to do so. It's not a meaningless gesture to demonstrate the use of chemical weapons on civilians won't be tolerated.
Like we did at Hiroshima? Those people were less dead?
IMO, that was Obama's way of sitting on his hands and blaming Congress for his lack of action. He didn't need Congress's approval to perform limited airstrikes. But this now isn't about Obama.
I'll just copy and paste my post to dechatelet.

But I still find it massively hypocritical and ironic listening to Trump phonily waxing on and on about God, and how awful it is that these poor Syrian women and children are being subjected to this treatment, while simultaneously and strenuously banning them refuge in the US.
So there's no middle ground?
Either they all come here or you can't object to them being murdered?

It's up to the President to decide whether or not to ask Congress's permission for something like a limited air strike. Keep in mind in so doing, you lose the advantage of surprise, since getting Congress's approval could not only take days but weeks.
Team Trump called ahead and told them they were going to bomb, which is yet another action he has mocked others for doing.
Overwhelming hypocrisy.
He gave them Russia warning, a few hours not months warning as Trump was indicating as the problem. This was done obviously to avoid any loss of life to Russian advisers that would have caused further difficulty in Russian relations. A wise move.

Congress said very clearly he overstepped his authority regarding Libya, so he consulted them regarding Syria, and they declined.

His purpose was to destroy the airfield, not to kill the Russians that were there.
I guess you think he should have killed them and started WW III.
