Pretty much everything the leftists said about Trump, starting with, "he will never stay in the election" has turned out to be 100% wrong.
Nobody listens to them now. They hate being ignored more than anything else.
So they are out wearing ***** hats, screaming in the streets, throwing things, and that's about it.
Are you still repeating that worn out party line? You sound like Trump. He's still harping on his election win five months later. Sure, he's president, but he's a president with a record low approval rating at the beginning of his term. And no, he's not "still winning." He lost the travel ban, not once, but twice. And how about that border wall? (Crickets). What about defeating ISIS? Nothing on that front either. What about rebuilding America's infrastructure? He hasn't even started on that. Instead he's bombing runways in a country he promised to stay out of and spending our money on weekend mini vacations to Mar-a-Lago. He doesn't have anything to do with these manufacturing jobs; he hasn't been in office long enough.
Yeeeeep. Economy was tanked thanks to two recessions. It was nice to see things get better under the Obama administration... much to the chagrin of Obama naysayers.

Not discredited. Highest level in 8 years is still exceedingly low compared to decades prior.
Manufacturing jobs will almost always be a thing. But they will likely never reach the same levels they were decades ago. Instead of focusing on the low-skill manufacturing jobs, people need to train and prepare for the manufacturing jobs of today and how they will evolve over their lifetime.
And yeah. Highest level in 8 years because we're still growing from the tire fires (recessions) of 2002/2003 and 2008/2009. The graph that Theerun posted displays them quite well.
If you did some research in this area, while educated forecasters predict there will be significant demand for goods, improved technologies mean that these goods are manufactured with robots not humans.
What the world will have a need for is people to program those robots, service those robots...not just hang out on an assembly line.
And where do you think many of those people are ? In the plant....so it is beneficial to our workforce, and the local economies when a plant is built there. "Bring back manufacturing" is also bringing back these people. Why is it so hard for many to understand this ? Obviously the countries that we are offshoring too understand it, and are reaping the benefits of it.
Sure , it will never be like it once was but at least we could stop the hemorrhaging of US jobs.

They are skilled workers -- the workers that are waiting for jobs that Trump promised would need to acquire those skills.

Here is the trendline of manufacturing as a percent of GDP, worldwide.
While there are things that a US administration can do to buffer this situation for US workers, none of those things can change the overall picture.
And ponder this little US factoid - "Output per hour for all workers in the manufacturing sector has increased by more than 2.5 times since 1987." That means, in plain english, that for a given amount of goods produced per hour, fewer than half the workers are required as were required in 1987.

For extra points, imagine what will happen to manufacturing if the US erects trade barriers.
Liberals don't like manufacturing jobs. They look to much like hard work, which is a sin or something. Better to have tens of millions of Americans on welfare, while illegals sneak in to do what little work liberals will allow to be done in America. Liberals are losers, and have no business running a lemonade stand, let alone an economy.
Claiming that everyone who works in manufacturing is conservative is ridiculous.
And you really think manufacturing jobs materialize in 2 months???
Apparently many do.
This country is like a huge ship. It takes a long time to speed up and a long time to slow down. But affirmation simply feels better than the truth. That's why there are so many affirming websites and media outlets.
When Obama was talking about jobs while still in office, what mattered to me was what kind of jobs? Once the Trump administration is up and running long enough for it to have an impact on jobs, I will ask the same thing.
I don't want to hear about more jobs unless they include a living wage and benefits and put more money in the hands of the average American and reduce the ever increasing income gap.
