I think that many go into politics out of a genuine sense of altruism. Unfortunately, the "power corrupts..." adage is a truism that stands the test of time. This is why I believe we should limit senators and representatives to two terms like we do the president.

Far more scary to me are the ones who want to make the world a "better place." Their better place and my better place may not even be in the same neighborhood.
