Insert "Adolph Hitler" and you can ask the same question.

The answer is that "right wing" no longer means anything. It is just someone who is, for good or for bad, disreputable to international socialsim, even if they follow similar economic polices.

The founder of the Front National was Marine Le Pen's father who led the party from 1972 until 2011 when his daughter took over.

The 88-year-old former paratrooper has multiple convictions for inciting racial hatred and denying crimes against humanity and once described the Holocaust as a mere “detail” in history – a view which saw him booted out of the party he founded.

Le Pen has a populist platform, with a hard line policies in relation to immigration, globalisation, defence, Foreign Policy withdrawl from the European Union and other such areas, coupled with a much more left wing domestic agenda when it comes to social policies such as health care, welfare, housing, education, employment etc.

This reflects the importance of social policies in France and there popularity, furthermore this approach allows Le Pen to reach out to voters across the political spectrum.
