Russian programmer reportedly linked to election hack arrested - NY Daily News

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/09/w...rest.html?_r=0

The initial reports in Russian news media of Mr. Levashov’s arrest did not say if he was suspected by United States intelligence agencies of being involved in attempts by Russian government hackers to meddle in the 2016 American presidential election. The American intelligence agencies have said Russian hackers broke into the servers of the Democratic National Committee and the email of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman and released documents in an effort to sway the election toward Donald J. Trump.

But computer researchers who have linked the long-running computer spam business of the man known as Peter Severa to malware used in 2012 to influence a domestic election in Russia say his arrest could give other investigations important information.

This will be an interesting one to watch.

i am thinking there are going to be some very uncomfortable people if this guy is involved. We might see someone tweeting to preempt and try to take control of the narrative.

I can't wait to find out how this guy changed Hillary votes to Trump votes, especially considering that votes are cast and counted the old fashion way -- not via the Internet. Did he magically teleport himself to Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida to change millions of ballots?

as a reader it is YOUR job to comprehend and the writers job to try and make it easy.

I think we know you understood what was being said, but instead decided to pretend you think someone claimed there was vote alterations taking place.

We see your little ploy.

Yet some of you think a Russian boogeyman did all the hacking and put Trump in the White House.

It was the stupidity of the DNC that caused the hacking.

So what? The guy can tell how he devised a phishing email that got people to click on it and change their password? Or do you think you're going to find Donald Trump helped with this whole scheme? It makes no sense. Why would they need Donald Trump's help to get into Podesta's email? He wasn't even the nominee at that point, and he was considered a long shot to be president. No one thought he had a chance of winning, including Donald Trump most likely.

What kind of smoking gun do you expect?

Why are you getting so defensive? I just said it will be interesting to watch. No idea yet where any of this will lead.

The investigation into russia is obviously not dead, however, as many on this board have proclaimed.

It's not an opinion. It's a fact that the people who talk about "hacking the election" or an "election hack" haven't even ALLEGED anything that would actually constitute "hacking". Hacking the election -- which means accessing voting tabulation systems and changing the tallies -- is a 100% deliberate lie or hallucination.
