Asking for all that stuff is an invasion of privacy. We might as well strip search every person that wants to enter the country. Sheesh.

Welcome to the USA, traveler!

I have friends who do that. They change their names on Facebook and switch profile pics to ones that are not of them so they cannot be found if they get challenged re: social media.

They have nothing to hide. None are terrorists or anything crazy like that. They're Europeans, largely. And they value their privacy.

As we all should.

We have been strip-searching people for coming in to US ever since the border control was established. Where have you been?

Citizens or non-citizens, people at the borders have very few rights, certainly not the rights to unreasonable searches. Customs agents can search with or without warrant in anyway they want.

78 million+/- foreign arrivals each year. About one- third are Canadians.

Extreme vetting is not practical nor cost effective.

The majority of US people will die of heart disease, Cancer, respiratory disease, accidents, Diabetes and Alzheimers, not terrorism.

Good for them. I felt the same back when employers started asking employees for their social media passwords, so ridiculous.

So, how's that really going for us, then?

Absolutely. They might as well ask to come to your house and rifle through your underwear drawer.

I think that it's extreme but at the same time you want to go to the party, you play by the rules. It is extremely difficult for many countries to get a tourist visa to come here, especially if you have a loved one here.

Apparently not good enough because 9/11 terrorists were able to get in. What's wrong with increasing the scrutiny?
