I think it is funny how they are using the term "catch and release" which is a fishing practice where an angler catches a fish, takes it off the hook maybe takes a photo then tosses it back in to the water to catch another day to describe what used to happen to illegal aliens.
The idea of catch and release is to make sure that the resource (fish) are not depleted to the point where the fisherman stops fishing because he knows he will not catch anything. In the long run the state will lose funds because the fisherman won't bother to buy a fishing license and taxes will also be lost when he stops buying equipment like a boat, a truck to tow it, gasoline, rods, reels, lures, baits etc.. etc... Stores that sell the gear will go out of business because no one is fishing anymore. The employees will be let go which brings me to the "hook" of my comments here.
If we keep (and deport) all the illegals we catch instead of employing the catch and release practice of the past 8 years we will one day deplete the resource of illegal aliens and people who work in immigration enforcement will lose their jobs as the business of rounding them up will be done.
OH no Now I'm thinking like a Loony Lefty. Should we toss back some of these aliens to ensure that we will always have some to catch so we can keep thousands of people employed in good Gov. jobs like ICE ?
It seems like a double edged sword that is worthy of debate.
