"Last year, Florida legislators were raked over the coals after they offered a list of medical offices that women could turn to for reproductive services. The list included dozens of schools, dentistry offices and even an optometry center."

OMG.
Is there a women's anatomy and physiology test that R lawmakers are required to fail before they are elected????
I'm assuming that most of them are married. Have they never noticed their wives???????
Why don't they just go to their doctor (or whoever the Dr. recommends) ?
Isn't that what women do when they get pregnant?
Or are we talking about where to get abortions?
My GP doesn't do pap smears, and why would I pay a co pay to my GP for him to send me to a GYN and pay a second co pay for a service that I can walk in to a PP and have done?

If you can "self-refer" to PP, why can't you self-refer to a GYN?

The initiative was specifically about substitutes for Planned Parenthood. Women who use Planned Parenthood for GYN services typically don't have a primary care doctor. They use PP because it's free. If the organization shuts down, those women will have nowhere to go. They use PP medical staff in lieu of a primary care doc. In theory, with Obamacare, that should be a moot point; they could be on Medicaid. But not all states have extended Medicaid to those newly-eligible under Obamacare, and the story was about Florida, which could be one of the non-participatory states, IDK.

Ask my insurance. That's how it works for me as well.
