Illegal Aliens Depress Wages for Some in U.S. - NYTimes.com

As long ago as 1988 the NYT recognized that illegal aliens drive down wages.

Quote:
Under contracts negotiated by the Service Employees International Union, blacks and legal Hispanic immigrants working as janitors at office buildings in downtown Los Angeles had won wage and benefits reaching a peak of $12 an hour by 1983. But a group of nonunion janitorial services hiring predominantly illegal immigrants began to wrestle the best building contracts away from the unionized companies, driving the union scale back down to $4 an hour and less. Of 2,500 black janitors under high-wage contracts in 1977, 100 were still paid comparative wages by 1985.
So why does the party that claims to want to raise wages support illegal aliens increasing the supply of labor?

Yes, it is perfectly understandable why some members of the pro-business GOP would like illegal immigration.

Why does the party who claims to want to raise wages wish to increase the labor supply?

This is the old Deplorable effect.

You are falling for the Liberal tricks of mixing words, rounding the pointy edged ones and altering meanings. In the above you say "immigrants are better human beings than Trump supporters"
You left off the "illegal" word which is the most important aspect.

I'm married to an immigrant that chose to follow the law. She respects the rules and loves America and if she could have she would have voted for Trump to block the mess that was Hillary.

Legal law abiding immigrants are welcomed.
Illegal law breaking immigrants need to be rounded up and sent to the back of the line.
Why should they get preference over someone who is following the rules to gain entry to America?

We are all trying to provide for ourselves and family but willingly breaking the laws of our society will eventually catch up to you and why shouldn't they? Are you trying to propose special treatment for criminals?

The working class in this country is becoming more and more Hispanic. Perhaps they're just looking to the future.

They are harming blue collar Hispanic workers along with everyone else.

EXACTLY, and besides.... it is the greedy-ass Republican corporate owners who refuse to pay a "living wage" and prefer to hire cheap labor or use foreign sweatshops, exactly like the Trump family!

Unfortunately both parties are being held captive by the really big contributors. Billary moved the Democrats from primarily supporting workers to supporting owners. Incidentally they became multimillionaires doing so. The Democrats need to end the Clinton Era and get back to basics.

The exact same reason that the party that claims to care about working class whites wants to eliminate labor regulations and the affordable care act.

Then are you not against Trump wanting to deport illegals and erect a wall on our southern border?
