We get threads like this about once every couple of weeks around here where some minor state representative somewhere proposes some ridiculous bill, that then gets shot down, and it's turned by left or right wing media into a talking point.

Most bills are made with no serious intention of them ever passing but to go back to their base (in this case religious types) and pass the hat around saying you tried.
It's not those who propose bills that will never go anywhere that are scary, it's those who support them.

Just as an FYI, it's not just one state. From what I've read it's 6+ states as far west as AZ. Money grabs like this may start like a small brush fire and then when it's realized that the group targeted is basically defenseless and ripe for the (pocket) picking the fire blows up into a full blown forest fire.

It's not about porn really, it's about MONEY and finding new ways for the government to generate (TAKE) it. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the people proposing this TAX have spent their own time either currently or somewhere in their lives doing exactly what they now want to regulate/tax...

There's little chance this bill will be enacted, and there's zero chance it would be effective if passed.

I'm sure most legislators know that.

Does anyone know whether this is one of those ALEC bills?

Maybe this is just marijuana-legalization envy.

It's not just about money, it's about control, too. The American Taliban wants to tell us what we are allowed to do and what we are not allowed to do according to their fundamentalist beliefs, whether we believe in their God and religion or not.

Absolutely no surprise here. The "party of family values" routinely takes their hypocrisy to the highest level. Basically, their creed is, "Okay for me, not for thee."

While the article below only references S.C. this same bill is being introduced in many other states.

They would tax the air we breathe, if we let them.

What you say about conservatives is often true but sorry you can't just say that about them because the other side the liberals are just as guilty if not worse.

What is the liberals solution for global warming? Tax and control. And their solution for obesity and gun crime? Tax and control. And on and on..........
