The Stench of Liberal Hypocrisy

Let’s start with Bill Clinton. The former President has been accused of sexual misconduct by three women (one, Juanita Broaddrick has claimed he raped her) yet this apparently posed no problem for liberals last year.

...
And what about film director Roman Polanski? He was named Best Director at the Oscars in 2002 despite having fled America for Europe in 1978 after being arrested and charged in the US with engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.

...
Woody Allen has a long and deeply uncomfortable history of allegations against him after his ex-wife, Mia Farrow, claimed he sexually abused their adopted daughter.

...
In 2009, David Letterman was forced to admit he had indulged in extra marital affairs with staff – including those vastly junior to him – who worked on his CBS show.

...
As Heat Street has previously reported, the Times is facing accusations of racial discrimination and its top dog is dogged by shocking allegations of lying about and covering up the sexual abuse of children.

The last one would be Mark Thompson, who formerly was at the BBC and covered up the Jimmy Saville child sex abuse cases. Also detailed here...

New York Times Requests More Time To Deal With Sex And Race Discrimination Case

The left is splashing O'Reilly all over the media right now, and he should have consequences... but so should the others... but because they are part of the "clique", their transgressions are stuffed in the closet.

Yes, but it is expected that liberals would act this way. Conservatives should hold themselves to a higher standard.

I agree with the bolded part.

As far as "clique," all these people, republicans and democrats, are part of the most powerful "clique" of all, the rich. Most rich people can buy or duck their way out of situations.

Bill just happened to have a job that puts him in the public eye every day, so sponsors pulled out after his controversial comments. Fox had no choice but to let him go.

Juanita Broadrrick subsequently signed an affidavit under oath, attesting that did not happen. How convenient for you to omit that fact.

Donald Trump is one of the biggest sexual harassing celebrities in the country, so please disembark from your very high horse regarding the "left." The "right" was willing to elect him as president, so they obviously don't care about those types of transgressions.

We can also post a very long list of those on the "right" who have harassed those of the opposite and of the same sex. Sexual obnoxiousness pretty much crosses party lines.

To remind you--the Murdochs fired O'Reilly and Ailes. The Murdochs are hardly the "left."

well, I like Mr. O'Reilly, but I don't think one can really defend him. He only has himself to blame.

This said, Creating a culture of civility of not kicking someone when they're down is to the benefit of everyone... you never know when you're going to be the one who's down.

Well said.

I would quibble, with the OP, some about 'consequences'. After all, President Clinton was impeached by the House (a significant consequence), but exonerated by the Senate.

Woody Allen? Didn't he marry that young lady that had been adopted by Mia Farrow? I believe they are still together. I admit to the 'yuck' factor, since the young lady was an adoptive daughter of Ms. Farrow, but one may readily read of rather odd marital arrangements in the Bible (brother to marry his brother's widow and such).

I would not weep for Mr. O'Reilly's 'consequences', since he is reportedly receiving some $40 million dollars. He may still write books, do podcasts, radio shows, etc.

Let me see, I believe that here on CD the argument goes: if a Democrat is accused of something, it must be implicitly believed by all. If a Republican is accused of the same thing, call it fake news and bring up the Democrats.

No fair minded person could disagree with your statement. The double standard is more than evident.

So if Anderson Cooper of Don Lemon got fired from CNN for something controversial like sexual harrassment, Fox News wouldn't have a field day with it?!

Come on, guys.

You see what O'Reilly is getting from the media. He has settled out of court on some of his cases which indicates at least some guilt on his part.

What's the evidence against Trump? Has he settled out of court for sexual misconduct? The media certainly dropped the coverage of the allegations pretty quickly from the October surprise. Certainly if there were something really there - the media would be all over it. Look how long they stayed on the mythical Trump/Russia collusion before they finally let that go.
