Problem is, it's possible (if not likely) that taxes aren't really going to be lowered for us in the middle class. My husband and I will still be at 33% according to his proposed tax brackets during his campaign. (Which I especially dislike knowing that a large fraction of our taxes is still going to perpetual wars)

Actually with the progressive tax system, the total taxes paid should be slightly less. But my taxes will be reduced by a much smaller % than those of someone making $5 million per year.

I mean, hopefully he's changed it up since then and we can enjoy a more substantial decrease in taxes, but I'm not too hopeful.

Lower capital gains taxes though at least. I've been wanting to do more investing anyway. Although I'm married, we don't have kids, we don't have a mortgage, we're out of school, etc. So we basically have very few exemptions, and pay pretty close to the stated rate when it comes to income taxes. :/

Oy vey. Advocating for individual freedom leads to so much pain and suffering. Got it. I'm glad you educated me, now let's both move on, shall we?

I don't want the payroll tax limits changed. No clue what anyone said to you in there.

That thread is really long.

That's the price you pay for living in a civilized society, besides they have not addressed how they will balance the budget and don't tell me we are back to Reaganomics. The spending cuts to offset the tax cuts need to come from somewhere.

Yah, it is, and I can't link to the "page" URL since I have each page set at 40 posts where most have it set at I think 10 posts.

I mentioned if SS tax were eliminated, I'd increase my 401K contribution by 6 percentage points. He said I was lying. I said I pour most of what I make into retirement. He said I was lying. I gave a few details including what I make. He said I just posted all that so I could brag about making $105K / year (as if that would be something to brag about).

If you're top 1% in terms of income and a "coastal elite" you make at least four times what I make, so I would think you would elicit a similar response.

I didn't say anything about that. I said confiscating more of my money removes more of my individual economic liberty, and handing more money to the government grows it and concentrates more power in it.

I posted about that earlier, agreeing with whogo that we need offsetting cuts, but lamenting that there's basically nowhere to cut.

Tax code to fit on a postcard, instead of 22,000+ pages.

Try paying attention to this.

I don't care how many people it affects.

I don't care how much money they made in their lifetimes.

I don't care what the percentage is.

The government is not entitled to a DIME of anyone's money when they die that THEY earned and THEY ALREADY PAYED TAXES ON ....

Estates should go to the relatives 100% UNTAXED as willed by the person who made the money.

Government needs to keep it's grubby paws off.

Simple enough for you?

Will this affect your family? It won't affect anyone in my family or any of my friends and neighbors. I can't think of any family it will affect. Oh, wait.....
Exactly!
