Pew study finds more than 70 percent of Republicans don’t believe in man-made global warming

In a four year period of time (2009-2013), the percentage of Republicans who said they believed in evolution went down eleven percent, from 54 to 43%.

Public

These are pluralities of the party that don't believe basic science . . . and it's getting worse. And while believing in astrology or ghosts is goofy, it's not dangerous. Not believing in global warming and thus not doing anything about it will irreparably harm the planet.
Because theres a great big hole in the "man made global warming" theory that if the dems and environmental scientists looked at, would not be C02... Latent heat effect. Unlike those scientists I didn't recieve an education at the university of tin foil hats and wikipedia from professor al gore and leonardo di caprio...

Want to get scientific, better start opening some books...
Last I checked when an air conditioner runs, water vapor is released from the air when it was cooled... Not C02...

Last time I checked, you're just a guy on the internet. Real scientists - - the one's marching yesterday? They think your type are fools, dangerous fools.

Spiritual Democrats are much less likely to use their beliefs to deny rights to others, ala conservative Christians denying gay rights every chance they get.

This is a very interesting read how the Climate Changers are hurting their own cause. I am old enough to remember the Ice Age calamity that was certainly going to destroy the earth in the 70's. Politics and agenda has no place in science. Lots of navel gazing going on in the field of climate science for sure.

Where are they cleaning the air up? Where are they doing anything but blabbering theory?

Oh thats right, they push auto manufacturers to pump out vehicles which emissions should be cleaner than what they intake while achieving 30+mpg...

Oh thats right, they fly private jets to give these speeches...

I'm dangerous because thermal dynamics, the air can hold more water vapor the hotter that it gets... Clouds act as insulation... C02 is denser than oxygen...

Thats why people who heat their homes in the north east humidify the air to run their heaters for a shorter length of time, not pump C02 in to act as an insulator to trap warm air in at a molecular level... Guess if C02 was so effective at trapping warm air, folks would be pumping it into their attics after sealing the house air tight... Afterall the theory is C02 traps heat in the atmosphere...

Science?!?!

Are you waging a war against math?

Or are you incapable of understanding the simple definition of "exponentially?"

32% of Republicans believe humans evolved from previous species...compared to 53% of Democrats. That is a noticeable difference, but not "exponentially."

A majority of Democrats didn't know that it takes a year for the Earth to go around the sun...

Did you understand that I was referencing Christianity, or are you just being deliberately obtuse?

Again, Republicans/conservatives are more likely, at a much higher rate (since big words seem to be a bad choice here) to believe that a magic man lives in the sky and will grant their wishes if they believe in the other guy who lived on earth 20000 years ago and made up a new religion. They are also more likely to think that everyone else should believe in this made up religion too, otherwise those people are going to a made up hell.

And also, they want to teach this in school and build laws around it, and remove the science that proves their beliefs FALSE.

Democrats, like Republicans, deny science/facts/studies when it suits their political needs.

Many Democrats/liberals on this very board/across the country:

-Deny the Science that IQ is in good part genetically heritable.

-Deny the Science that men are more likely to have both low-IQs and high-IQs than women (hence why there are more males in special education and more males that are geniuses), due to genes correlated to intelligence being located on the X Chromosome.

-Deny the Science that there are genetic traits that correspond to personality and even being predisposed to more violence.

-Deny the science that genetics does play a part in elite athletes (one resident democrat of this board argued that genetics don't play a part in elite athletes and was so ignorant of science used Jesse Owen's long leg bones as proof --- which of course is determined by genetics).

<snip> I may come back for the rest, but...
The science of genetics is complicated and you seem to be taking much out of context.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...ce-hereditary/

Quote:
Scientists have investigated this question for more than a century, and the answer is clear: the differences between people on intelligence tests are substantially the result of genetic differences. But let's unpack that sentence. We are talking about average differences among people and not about individuals. Any one person's intelligence might be blown off course from its genetic potential by, for example, an illness in childhood. By genetic, we mean differences passed from one generation to the next via DNA. But we all share 99.5 percent of our three billion DNA base pairs, so only 15 million DNA differences separate us genetically. And we should note that intelligence tests include diverse examinations of cognitive ability and skills learned in school. Intelligence, more appropriately called general cognitive ability, reflects someone's performance across a broad range of varying tests.
You cannot predict a person's IQ by looking at differences in genes because these differences involve averages NOT individuals.

Quote:
Genes make a substantial difference, but they are not the whole story. They account for about half of all differences in intelligence among people, so half is not caused by genetic differences, which provides strong support for the importance of environmental factors. This estimate of 50 percent reflects the results of twin, adoption and DNA studies. From them, we know, for example, that later in life, children adopted away from their biological parents at birth are just as similar to their biological parents as are children reared by their biological parents. Similarly, we know that adoptive parents and their adopted children do not typically resemble one another in intelligence.
We also now know that intelligence is not a fixed trait. The brain is plastic and education makes a difference.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...ot-fixed-birth

Quote:
IQ tends to remain relatively stable over the lifespan. The key word there is relative. Keep in mind that IQ researchers are interested in explaining differences. Developmentally speaking, an individual's intelligence is not fixed at birth. Although rank ordering of scores tends to remain stable (relative change), scores within individuals fluctuate quite a bit (absolute change).
Quote:
The bottom line here is that intelligence was never, and will never, be fixed at birth. Be very skeptical of any media report that argues that a new study overturns research showing that it is.
Also note that IQ measures developed skills and does not actually say much about native intelligence at all. Being branded with a low IQ at a young age, in other words, is like being born poor. Due to family circumstances and the mechanisms of society, most people born poor will remain poor throughout their lives. But that doesn't mean anyone is *innately* poor or destined to be poor; there is always potential for any poor person to become rich.

Do you understand the difference between your home and the entire earths atmosphere, you need to visit the NASA website so you can digest some science.

this is a nonsense thread intended to muddy waters .

this is a standard right wing tactic accuse the left of whatever the right is guilty of.

Thus the right is violent, so start starting to cast the Left as "radicalized"

they do this all the time. They know they were the black hats, and thus wish to portray the left as just as heartless and nasty.

So your saying that if for some stupid reason I moved back to NY I can't insulate and alter the atmospheric pressure in my attic and pump it full of C02, lay asphalt and reflective surfaces allow sun light in it won't insulate and keep the warm air in?

By all means go ahead build a filtration device and attach it to a blimp.
Filter out C02.
Record PPM and temperature.
Compare the temperature with C02 content.

Prove the theory scientist. like when I was 16 and proved my father wrong and put a small block chevy in an S10 when he claimed it would never fit.
