How likely is this, especially given the situation about North Korea?

Ask again the day after the senate meets with Trump on Wednesday, and Russia weighs in.

Not likely in reality. If that were to happen the cost to both would be tremendous and would change life as we know it. Also, neither side has the means to conquer one another currently and to build a force necessary would take a long time and a lot of effort.

Not at all likely. Mutually assured destruction.

But if Russia or China REALLY wanted to mess with us they could provide anti-aircraft missile systems to NK or other support.

Russia doesn't like North Korea, they just don't want the US starting a war with them because they live next door. So if the US fights North Korea, Russia will not be going to rescue North Korea, it would be more likely that Russia would help in a US invasion of North Korea, however things are very different in Syria, and we are basically fighting a proxy war over there.

Disregarding a nuclear option; Russia isn't powerful enough to wage a conventional war against us on their own. Look for a China/Russia/Iran Axis type of world conflict for it to materialize... and then NATO would overwhelm that.

Even in our sad state of military disrepair, we are still well strapped to handle Russia.

When Russia starts preempting a possible conflict by banging their chests and saying they have weapons that can destroy our Navy... they're scared.

More fake missiles on parade.

We got lot's more MOABs Made in the USA, ready for export.

No. If they REALLY wanted to mess with us they could just give medium range nukes to North Korea.

What situation with North Korea?

There is NO situation with North Korea. The state is being used by the current administration in an attempt to bolster populist support.

North Korea doesn't have the ability to nuke any American territory.

Kim doesn't want to die. He likes being in power.

Therefore, he won't attack the US.

All this fear mongering is disgusting. The US cannot afford a pointless conflict with North Korea.
