...conservatives taking the opinions of more college students and applying their beliefs to all democrats and liberals...
A. I don't see that in evidence in the opening post or responses, at least prior to YOU posting the above
B. you don't have to be "conservative" to criticize this
C. you don't have to defend this even if you identify as "democrat" or "liberal"
Can we get away from the self-cannibalizing, malignant "left/right" / "Democrat/Republican" / "liberal/conservative" paradigms and just address things as we see them please?

Frankly, from my perspective, it appears the goal I thought was prevalent during my youth of a color blind society (if it ever was the goal - there was certainly talk about it being the goal), has been supplanted by a hyper racialism leading to more segregation. Not segregation like the old days, but segregation nonetheless.

So in other words, this entire post is just about some idiot college kids, and has nothing to do with liberals or democrats.
Even though the word "snowflakes" and "liberal self-hatred" were mentioned on the first page by several posters.....
Such a wonderfully openminded and inclusive group of young black students at this college. What kind of sociology books are these people reading ?. Is it Nazi era guide books on how to isolate, victimize and discriminate others not like themselves. These Black kids need to be told racism is not an answer to racism. They are becoming that very same thing they once hated and vowed to end.

Dead right. I always thought we were shooting for the Earth of Star Trek: The Next Generation / Deep Space 9 / Voyager (I was born in 1974, ST:TNG was airing during my junior high / high school years). But we're further from that now than we've ever been in my lifetime.

Do you feel like Trump has done anything to help create a color blind society? Has he done anything to hurt the possibility of a color blind society?

It need not be about political parties, no.

Fair enough on the second point. On the first point, I don't personally use the term "snowflake" often myself -- you can search my history to see I've only used it in other contexts or quoting someone -- but I don't see it as necessarily fitting the left/right / blue/red / political party apparatus. Tyler Durden used it in Fight Club:

Listen up maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We're all part of the same compost heap. We're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
The problem with the extremism and polarization and tribalism is "conservative people" often seem unable to criticize ideas and stories that are perceived to be originating from a vaguely conservative standpoint, and "liberal people" often seem unable to criticize ideas and stories that are perceived to be originating from a vaguely liberal standpoint. That leaves either side feeling it has to not only not criticize, but DEFEND bad ideas from "their" side, and it leaves either side feeling it has to not only criticize bad ideas from the "other" side but ATTRIBUTE those bad ideas to the whole of the other side.
