The town hall meetings had a huge impact on the politicians. The blow back was openly hostile about people losing their coverage, Chants of "Do your job" was heard loud and clear. Add to the mix the infighting among the republicans. The freedom caucus (tea party) wanted zero entitlements and the medicare expanded coverage to be eliminated. ( The freedom caucus has now agreed to support the new reform vs repeal. There is a compromise to get the moderates to support it. Google it) The blow back from that worried the republicans that the mid terms in 2018 would have them lose their job. The first plan was nothing more then a flagrant attempt to throw tens of thousands of people off of money sucking government money that the 1% want for themselves. Their motto is we the 1%, not we the people. It complicates their agenda when we the people are solely responsible for electing them. We the people have spoken and Obama care remains the law of the land. Is it perfect? No, but it's better then nothing for many. Whether their latest attempt for reform now vs repeal passes the house and senate remains to be seen. The coverage for preexisting conditions may disappear. Tragic for many. It will be interesting to see if the town hall meetings start up again.
