"Chief Justice Roberts added that the government’s position would give prosecutors extraordinary power. “If you take the position that not answering about the speeding ticket or the nickname is enough to subject that person to denaturalization,” he said, “the government will have the opportunity to denaturalize anyone they want.” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/26/u...alization.html

I would suggest for everyone who reads the OP's post to read the entire article as you will understand that reading just this small part shines a different light on what the entire is saying.

What was argued was a clear lie by a refugee who made it look like he joined the good guys while indeed he had joined the bad guys and for that reason he and his wife were stripped off their citizenship status.

One of the lawyer went a step further and made is sound like you can be stripped of your citizenship if you drive 60 in 55 mile zone and didn't disclose that. Clearly the justices made the argument sound ridiculous as that is what the lawyer was using. BS, ridiculous over the top arguments which often are used by lawyers to win their case.

Another complete lie by the haters.

The haters have nothing, so they have to resort to lying, shameful.

Roberts was no fan of the government's lawyer here.

Did you bother to read it, if so, do you understand the premise of the Administrations argument? Yes, I inserted one small part, because I thought Robert's comment was the best of the lot, but I assumed that anyone reading it would know how to click on the link and read the comments by the other justices.

Yes, the justices made the administration's argument sound ridiculous because it is

I don't know how to tell you how crazy that sounds, what lie are you talking about? Are you saying this case is 'made up' or that the Justices didn't make those remarks?

He obviously didn't read the article. This is an important argument made by both the justices and the lawyer, but the justices will have to clarify exactly which lies they consider important or immaterial to citizenship.

when the "extremists" here find themselves with no rebuttal, no way to wiggle out they call you a liar.

They know you are right. Most people reading know the thruth, but they think that they tricking people.

I like it , because it gives you the chance to reply , crushing their lies and bumping up the thread.

It is worth Noting for those who do not know Justice Roberts is a conservative appointed by conservatives, and is dismayed to see how Trump is acting. CHief Justice does not say this lightly , they are not at all happy with Trump's attacks on the courts and not at all impressed with his attitude that implies he believes the SCOTUS is a tool for him to use.

Sounded like several other justices were also taking a pretty dim view.

Our only hope for having tRump's insane policies stopped, is the US court system.

They have stopped him on the travel ban, on the withholding of funds to sanctuary cities.

They will stop President Bonkers when his positions are out of line with the Constitution, which is quite often.

Even SCOTUS will stop this fascist. Justice Roberts will become the new swing vote on that court.
