Can't wait until you have to pay Crapcast an extra $50 per month just so you can stream Netflix OR use Crapcast's new movie streaming service if you don't want to pay. It's mind blowing the public elects these buffoons in charge that do everything possible to make bills more expensive for everyone in order to make horrifically bad companies like Crapcast more money. Pai should be thoroughly raked over the coals if this happens.
naw this is nothing compared to the wholesale destruction of the FCC under Pai. From killing consumer cable boxes and dropping the "zero coupon" case and of course gutting the small isp low income subsidies , changing rule so that ONE ISP is now defined as a "competitive" market (good duck) and of course declaring the FCC does not have the authority to deal with a whole bunch of issues they dealt with right up until jan 20th.

Pai is killing all consumer protections and unfettering corporations to do as they will. Pai is the worse head of the FCC in my lifetime and the failure to appoint a new dem to rebalance the board is disgusting abuse of power. Never before has the FCC been purposely made partisan like this. In the past it was always kept balanced to ensure progress was steady and even to support long term planning. Now that the Republicans have cast that aside we will see wild swings in policy every time the Admin changes party...

stupid greedy anti american power grab by scum. Tom wheeler was the first head of FCC that fought for the public in decades. Trump is a horrible man, low income families in blue and red states alike will feel the pain.

RURAL USA is getting DUCKED by PAI/TRUMP. You guys who love Trump well this is what you voted for. You voted for republicans who are already deep in your pockets and you dont even see it or know it. Enjoy the price increases they are coming... (meanwhile outside the USA ISP prices are falling as services outstrip ours)

But honestly, I've had it with debating this subject.

**** Pai. **** Trump for making a telco lackey the head of the FCC. **** people who voted for the corporate mouthpiece in the White House.

And in particular, **** everybody who's going to defend this on the grounds that it makes liberals angry, hur-hur. You're screwing yourself and the country over for the empty thrill of being told you're on the winning side.
Communism Socialism and Marxism. Feel free to start your own ISP.

First to say it. I win!

hmm, so you are saying that increasing the costs of what to the vast majority of people is a vital service does not matter because you don't need it.. so screw the millions of low income people who need good internet access ?

i am guessing you really just can't bring yourself to condemn trump and thus limit your view of this to how it impacts you and you alone.. JFK would be proud.

They should be careful. If they make it too expensive, the provider monopolies won't have enough browsers' history to sell to the marketers.

So the haters are upset because, well why?

Net neutrality is still in place, and there is no proposals to eliminate it.

Why are the haters mad, oh yeah, because they are haters.

netflix is simply ONE example of many. Maybe your ISP would decide amazon, or youtube or turn it in or Hiku or maybe you dont get how zero coupon works.

PAI told carriers and isps they dont need to worry and dropped the zero coupon charge CASE. thus freeing comcast to either charge competing serivces extra monies OR decide to charge everyone but a chosen few a flat per gig rate. look it up and you will quickly find it is not about netflix it is about 100% of the content you may or may not use.

Trying telling me that charging extra to access conservative websites would not bother you? and guess what under PAI's terms that would be legal... Or did you not understand that coastal elites could use this power to make you pay to watch infowars.....

and to be CLEAR so that you understand Donald trump appointed Pai, thus he is responsible that is literally how government in the USA works. are you unware of this, or do you simply wish to pretend the POTUS did not appoint Pai?

Furthermore it was at the direct request of the white house that consumer cablebox rule was killed. and it was done exactly to ensure it could not come back. so there you have your direct link where trump directly ordered pai to ensure you can never get a powerful cheap cablebox that you own and works for any cable provider. the rule that would have forced comcast etc to stop charging too much for hardware...

No one is required to use the internet or watch streaming TV. If it is too expensive don't buy it.

As I understand it we are not a dictatorship but a democracy therefore the leader (President) neither has absolute power nor responsibility. I'm not sure you quite understand how our branches of government work.

Trump is 100% responsible for his actions and Pai's actions that are undermining consumer protections, your attempts to shift this discussion to some other vague topic is because you are out of your depth, you clearly don't understand the policies and so instead of debating the merits of abandoning zero coupon, FCC abdication of oversights etc you instead want to pretend internet access is about streaming youtube.

You must be pretty out of touch with education needs these days. Most teachers require some level of internet access for students to be able to complete studies. Many require students are required to hand in homework online. Many employers ask employees to be available online.

internet access is now what electricity was 100 years ago, sure you could get by without it, but even the gov understood it was a requirement

But there is MORE. ISP services are granted state backed and defined monopolies and duopolies precisely because it is in the PUBLIC INTEREST . Those granted those rights are supposed to ACT in the public interest and the government is supposed to ensure they do.

Pai is unwinding that part of the deal. We the public grant access across OUR public land, and airwaves for a fee and terms. Pai is rolling back the TERMS of the deal ie PUBLIC INTEREST.

just as power is supplied by for-profit monopolies that must meet certain conditions so it is for ISPs. again Pai (appointed by Trump) is failing in his duty to protect the public interest.

or did you just not care about America at all?
