His shtick is getting really, really old.

President Trump threatened to terminate the U.S. trade agreement with South Korea in an interview Thursday night, declaring that the five-year-old accord with a key ally was “a horrible deal” that has left America *“destroyed.”

During an Oval Office interview about trade policy in North America, Trump served notice that he is looking to disrupt an important partnership in the tumultuous Asia-Pacific region as well — even with Seoul on edge because of North Korea’s escalating military provocations.

Trump sharply criticized the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, known as Korus, which was negotiated and signed during the George W. Bush administration. The latest version was ratified by Congress in 2011 and took effect in March 2012 during the Obama administration

I guess mobile phones really will cost as much as a year's worth of health insurance then.

And there goes many, many jobs in the automobile industry in the USA.

Good. Maybe people will stop dinking with them as they drive down the road. It's hard to trifle with a phone when you don't have one.

Trump is saying such things to take the headlines away from Flynn's recent Russia lies/investigation. That was top breaking news yesterday. Trump always comes up with strong words or crazy tweets in order to deflect away from something else.

When yesterday's Flynn discussions were all over the news, it was only a matter of time before Trump would try to change the news story.

So then Trump says there might be a "major major conflict" with North Korea. Trump said this solely to switch the news story AWAY from the Flynn/Russia issue. Now Trump has mentioned the S Korea/US Trade agreement. This is another Trump deflection discussion. He's not going to to anything but he's just wagging the dog. He does not want the Flynn/Russia issue as the top news story.

Blah blah blah.

"We may end NAFTA." Oh, Never mind.

"There's a federal hiring freeze." Ahhh, Forget it.

"I'm going to fix Obamacare." It's harder than I thought!

"Mexico will pay for the wall." That's not what I meant.

"I'm gonna lock Hillary up." I was just kidding.

What a stupid, lying Sack-O-S*** the GOP elected.

That's your response? "Great! Now we won't have smart phones!"

You get an award for the most ridiculous rationale for something stupid Trump has done.

You're better off without them.

Funny thing is that your sentence is written in past tense toward the end there ("has done," which is technically present perfect but implies a past action). Is there a legitimate reason for that? Are you a time traveler? Last I checked Trump hasn't terminated any trade agreement with South Korea. So then why are you asking about stupid things that Trump has done when referring to something he hasn't done yet? You are an alien from an upcoming century, aren't you? Please tell us what else Trump will do.

First of all, NONE of us are qualified to answer that question. Even the people running this country have to research and weigh the cost/benefits to determine that. All we can do, on here, is speculate and give our layman opinions.

International trade and affairs, in general, are extremely complex. You can't simply take how much we sell a country vs how much we buy as a barometer of if it is a "good deal" or not. Too many factors involved, like how that country might allow us to put bases or people there, how much we need them as allies to protect our country, etc. This is not as simple as what we sell them and what they sell us, contrary to what uneducated Donald Trump thinks.

Right now, with this uncertain, unstable administration running things, a lot of countries are wondering if they are safe by sticking with us. Some are even considering warming up to the Russians and having a better relationship with them as they feel safer there. That is the last thing we need to happen.

So, unless someone on here is an expert on international affairs and trade, our opinions are just that, and you know what they say about opinions !
