I doubt many of them are athletes. Basically, they just decided to stop being emotional eaters.

Then why call it a hunger strike?

Please make it mandatory for high school kids to serve in military or work on a farm for a semester. They are out of touch with real world & unable to prepare for hardships in life.

What's a thread about a hunger strike without some Temple of the Dog?

These graduate students are, according to the university, receiving a $30,000 annual stipend, get 100% free health care and are getting free tuition. Yes… free tuition. To Yale University. I’ll grant you that $30K isn’t going to make you a 1%er or anything, but it’s still more than a lot of hard working people make. Toss in the value of the tuition and the cost of health care benefits and the total compensation package puts them well above the medium income for Americans. And they’re students.

I won't lie... I'm jealous.

I only have a Bachelor's degree, but I had to pay my own way since my parents made too much for me to qualify for any type of aid, but they didn't help out with college expenses at all, nor did I expect them to. I didn't want loans either (a decision I am SO GLAD of to this day, zero debt is wonderful), so I just about killed myself working full-time and studying as a double major full time.

Granted, I went to a UC, so as a public uni, tuition wasn't as crazy as an Ivy would be, but still... I can't help being just a teensy bit envious when I read of Ivy students getting a free ride in every way. The world will be their oyster as it is.

So why are they complaining still?? Even I feel very fortunate, and they're in an even better position than I was in college.

Because they will never get regular American people. Why is tax payer money being used to subsidize these liberal colleges and college students? I don't know but we do know that liberal colleges are pushing for more tax payer subsidizing.

The Yale College Republicans decided to set up a tent next to theirs and serve up a barbecue beef, baked beans and corn to its members and others in the Yale community.
