I don't think anyone would really think Michelle would run for President but it's a nice compliment and shows how much people liked and appreciated her.
Michelle was the only viable candidate on the Dem party. They have no one else other than Ophra and I am certain she is not running. In 2020 Bernie may be too old.
First of all, I don't know how you apply the past tense to future elections. How, exactly, does that work?

I don't care if she runs or not, but saying you aren't going to run is just how potential candidates get the media to quit asking. She's free to change her mind later if she wants, as thousands of others have...
Michelle Obama has always maintained that she has no interest in running for President.

No, she isn't. You obviously know nothing about the legal profession. Michelle has never even had a disciplinary action against her. Neither has Barack. They went inactive, which makes sense based on Barack Obama's career path.
