Will not answer the question.

The fact is maintaining relations with the Philippines is important to US interests regardless of who is in charge there.

Presidents have to deal with people they do not like. It comes with the job. In fact it comes with most jobs.

What a Great President we have to take initiative to repair the damage Obama caused in our relationship with one of our best allies. Duterte was democratically elected and is loved in Philippines and our liberal fascist butt hurt over Duterete dissing their demigod is amusing to see.

I think the outrage here is laughable. So what if Trump wants to meet with the leader of another country and talk about trade etc...

It wasn't that long ago that Obama met with the Castro's of Cuba to restore relations with that communist country. It also wasn't that long ago that Fidel used to round up gay men and have them killed to prevent the spread of AIDS.

Heck, the Clinton Foundation was accepting money from countries in the Middle East that treat women like animals.

I hope they have a good productive talk.
i'll let others explain to you how the President of the Philipines deals with drug dealers/users.

But can I address the 'outrage' comment. There is no outrage - a few snarky comments, concern about how it will go....but no outrage.

Relax...conservatives think if we say -- uh oh Trump goofed again we are going 'INSANE'...'OUTRAGE'.....BEZERK'...no we are just...."oops he did it again..."

Seriously no outrage.. Wonder if it will be a Mar A Lago visit -- there hasn't been a big event there for awhile and his members may get a little frustrated with that. They paid good money for access to these events.

There must be a Trump golf course going into the Philippines in the near future.

So now Trump supporters are fans of Duterte because Trump is? This is like some sort of psychological study and it's pretty amazing to see.

Do you know anything about idealism versus realism as applies to foreign policy?

I thought not.

I'm not crazy about Duterte but every Filipino I work with is and he is a great ally's elected President and I don't think my country or my President should overrule the judgement of the people that elected him....even if my former President is a Liberal Fascist demigod.
