What a bunch of hypocrites in Lansing. Maybe they learned a thing or two from the Federal government....it's a big no-no when the Feds need the money..no one is "exempt"....

Hmmm. RedState doesn't seem to mention that the tax lien is actually against the Granholm-Cherry Inaugural Committee, a group that after fulfilling it singular function, had closed up shop in 2005. Shouldn't come as much of a surprise though, what with lies and misrepresentations of fact being the day-to-day stock and trade of the right wing...

Closing up shop does not mean that your released of any tax liability.

That's quite true -- hence the filing of the lien. The issue here, however, is the blatant distortion of the facts by an agency of the right-wing disinformation media. Haven't we had enough of this kind of crap over the past eight years? Wasn't it disgraceful enough the first time they did it? Haven't we paid a high enough price for it yet? Isn't anyone tired of being played for a sucker by some branch of Karl Rove's no-shame political trash-spewing machine? The story reported behind the OP's RedState link bears no relation to the facts at all, and your only reaction to it has to do with tax law??? Maybe it should bother you a little more that from Pennsylvania Avenue to (in this case) Grand River Avenue, and everywhere beyond and between, you are daily being suckled and pandered to by a bunch of low-life professional liars...

Here is another link to the story... Granholm's committee owes federal taxes (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080307/POLITICS/803070395/1409/METRO - broken link)

Political head-hunting season is warming up...

"Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis said taxpayers should be "outraged" about the federal lien.

This is a slap in the face to all taxpayers who pay their taxes on time," he said. "We expect our governor to be above the law, not a scofflaw. Gov. Granholm shut down Michigan's government to push through the largest tax increase in state history. Now, we find out that her own inaugural committee that the governor is in charge of never bothered to pay its taxes"

It's no wonder nothing is 'getting done' in Michigan.
