I'd never heard The Snake poem/lyric before, but now its literally my favorite.
Oscar Brown wrote it.
Johnny Rivers and Al Wilson sung it.
President Trump made it great.

From Aesop's fable about the farmer and the viper.

Everyone knew Trump was a liar, a thief, and a con man.

Thousands of court cases testified to his M.O. Several of them were ongoing while he was campaigning.

People voted for him anyway. Some because they bought the smear campaign against Clinton. Some because they believed he would bring their low-skilled, decent-wage jobs back. Some because they are white supremacists and responded to Trump's dog whistles about how they'd be back on top once he was in.

And here we are folks.

The guy who promised no more nation building is now carrying on about the need to get rid of the leaders of North Korea and Syria.

The guy who said he was going to be the champion for the working folks supported a bill that would mean 24 million people, many of the working poor and middle class, would lose the health insurance.

The guy who carried on about giving a speech to Wall Street, now has cabinet filled with Wall Street types and puts out a "tax plan" that gives himself and his rich cronies huge tax breaks.

Brown's family has asked trump to stop reciting it. Of course he doesn't care.

We knew Trump was a snake before we took him in.

What I'm wondering is why he keeps reminding people of this. Surely, some of his supporters realize that this little ditty applies more to him than it does immigrants.

It's a very old story. Heard it many, many years ago.

Seems many of us have heard it before. Probably from the useless liberal arts education.

It has some similarities to the 'The Farmer and the Viper' Fable as well as 'The Scorpion and the Frog' Fable.

Most poems are boring, and I suspect the Snake Poem was only worth listening to because President Trump told it with such vigor.
If any one of us in this thread recited the Snake Poem, it would probably sound very boring.
And if any one of us in this thread ever ran for President, even if we were as famous as Donald Trump, we'd fall as quickly as Jeb Bush, or quicker.
Even if some of you don't agree with President Trump's executive orders, or don't appreciate his flexibility, at least you can admit that he's a lot more talented than you.
Very rare talent in history.
