**Funding for Planned Parenthood remains untouched.

**Increases in science and energy funding that the Trump Administration had sought to cut.

**In addition, Democrats forced Republicans to withdraw more than 160 unrelated policy measures, known as riders, including those that would have cut environmental funding and scaled back financial regulations for Wall Street.

Looking at this agreement, it's hard to remember that the Republicans control the House, Senate and the White House.
Yes...Obama might as well still be President..he would have signed off on this...

As far as the wall is concerned, money is already appropriated for this so it's mostly symbolic.
There isn't enough republican support to even bring it up for a vote. It is not the democrats so why would the media be blaming them.

Totally different situation. First African-American President, huge support from both the press and population. They eventually (after Brown) held the Senate 59-41 so they only needed one GOP vote. Also, the DNC is much better in lemming mode and follow the leader. The GOP actually cares.

Pelosi is a great leader if you believe in SF liberals and fund raising. However, her and Harry Reid were the founders of the great bipartisan divide as of 2017.

Nope. It's gone for judicial appoints, but still there for legislation.

Regarding the house: the GOP controls 238 out of 435, or 54.7%. Or, they can only lose 20 seats. How's that a clear majority?

And yes, they should be able to pass legislation in the house. But unlike the Dems, the GOP actually have members that don't always agree with leadership. I wish the Dems would have the same mentality. That means we actually could get something done in a bipartisan matter.

This is a great summary:

Trump and his team had agreed with GOP leaders late last year to punt a long-term spending package until the end of April instead of finalizing the fiscal year’s spending under then-President Barack Obama. GOP appropriators were dismayed by the decision, insisting that Trump didn’t need a messy spending fight three months into his presidency. But conservatives argued that delaying the negotiations would give the party more leverage.

In the end, Trump will have to sign a compromise bill that largely ignores his budget proposal to vastly cut domestic spending. But it’s a recognition of the realities of governing: Accepting a deal with concessions to Democrats is better for Trump than facing a potentially disastrous shutdown 100 days into his presidency.

One side effect of Trump is that he is actually bringing both parties together. Democrats think he's an idiot and now Repubs are starting to see it too.

So it's bipartisan. Trump doesn't bother consulting with Congress and Congress is sick of it. So both the Dems and Repubs will work things out together. Meanwhile Trump gets to hold rallies for himself, watch tv news, make uninformed statements, tweet in the night.

Both parties now work together. When they're done, they take it to Trump for the signature. He's brought us together!

What exactly ARE Republicans willing to fight for?

They got absolutely nothing they wanted in this budget. Democrats got almost everything they wanted. Oh wait, Republicans DID get rid of Michelle Obama's school lunch program so I guess that's something...

Republicans are nothing more than the owned opposition. Democrats own them. Even at their lowest numbers in 100 years, and despite not having power in virtually any aspect of the government, Democrats are still calling the shots in Washington DC.

At this rate, I'll never vote for another Republican again, which means I'll never vote again. What's the point? Even when they have complete control, Republicans are still too scared to move a conservative agenda forward. If you're a Republican, voting is a waste of time.

Heh, you could be onto something there. The grown-ups still want to talk it out amongst themselves. Trump has no friends with the Tea Party members of Congress (whose voters are his strongest base) after the health care debacle, and the rest of them (both Republican and Democrat) are more interested in actually legislating than trying to score ideological points.
