Congressional negotiators reached an agreement late Sunday on a spending package to keep the government funded through September. The agreement is a big win for Democrats, whose support will be necessary to pass this bill in the Senate.

Included in the agreement:

**Border security money that forbids the president to spend it on a wall. It can be used for technology investments and maintenance only.

**Funding for Planned Parenthood remains untouched.

**Increases in science and energy funding that the Trump Administration had sought to cut.

**In addition, Democrats forced Republicans to withdraw more than 160 unrelated policy measures, known as riders, including those that would have cut environmental funding and scaled back financial regulations for Wall Street.

Looking at this agreement, it's hard to remember that the Republicans control the House, Senate and the White House.

The guy has lost virtually EVERY effort he has attempted. As I commented long ago, Trump plays a infantile game of checkers while the world is more like Masters Chess.

Now we have the Republicans basically telling him to get bent. You can only imagine what message the rest of the world gets.

It's probably only a matter of time until impeachment - two grand juries are in session as we speak

I think Trump may actually make it to the bottom 10% of US Presidents - quite an accomplishment for a "businessman". That is - if we survive this (nukes could start flying when he's going down).

This is great news.

I'm a hard liberal. Contrary to what many conservatives think, most liberals are all for border security. Beef up patrols, arm border agents with the latest in technology and equipment. I'm all for that!

But to spend TENS OF BILLIONS on building a literal wall...that's the dumbest idea I've heard in a while.

From the looks of things, Pelosi is a far better negotiator than Trump.

In addition, the package includes $61 million to reimburse local law enforcement agencies for the cost of protecting Trump when he travels to his residences in Florida and New York, a major priority for the two New York Democrats involved in the spending talks, Schumer and Rep. Nita M. Lowey.

I'm glad these localities will be reimbursed for the undue burden our Squanderer-In-Chief is putting them under by keeping three separate residences. But what a colossal waste of our tax dollars.

"The National Institutes of Health will get a $2 billion funding boost over the next five months, under a bipartisan spending deal reached late Sunday night in Congress. The agreement marks a sharp rejection of President Trump’s proposal to cut $1.2 billion from the medical research agency in the current fiscal year."

It's almost like the Republicans in Congress are thumbing their noses at Trump with this agreement.

Opinion on this thread is fine. However the Democrats have dug in and have obstructed, delay every step to keep Trump under control.

Planned Parent hood should be defunded as well as PBS. These Organizations are very profitable and do need the help of the tax payers.

Remember this is first round and if Dem's want a Government shut down its on their shoulders.

The Democrats are doing what they need to to protect the programs they believe in. The Republicans can't pass a budget without the help of the Democrats to get it through the Senate so they are forced to work with them, and that means compromise. This is how our government works.

And of course they are doing everything they can to obstruct Trump. His policies are destructive. I'm glad they have the power to keep a lot of what Trump wants from becoming reality.

The fact that this bill appears very favorable to the Democrats just highlights how weak the Republican party is right now. They have numbers, but lack cohesion, and it shows.
