The citizens were part of the military, militia played a pretty good role against the Redcoats.....so yeah, they woulda loved it.

In reality, they wouldn't...if they were supplying their military's arsenal wouldn't they want a military weapon , why have something that is less powerful then the average hunting rifle ?
