Yes, I am lucky to have avoided a wide array of genetic issues as well as infections and mishaps that happen beyond anyone's control. But I am not lucky in preventing all manner of self-inflicted maladies. That bit takes discipline, hard work, self-ownership. I was only responding to the "yet Americans eat like slobs, overmedicate, refuse to educate themselves, sit around watching TV and eating chips" part of this stupid thread. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for self-inflicted syndromes and whining to the medical industry about them when we should all do our best to be responsible for our own health so we can focus attention on those things that ARE beyond our control.

People that partake in sports and fitness sometimes get injuries that are related to the sport/fitness.

Torn rotator cuffs, all kinds of soft tissue injuries and broken bones too. Some runners end up needing knee replacements later in life.

Some people are hit by cars when they are walking in crosswalks or even on sidewalks. P You now have a pre-existing condition after some of these injuries and no insurance company will sell you insurance for the rest of your life.

If you ever got in a car wreck and were injured, even if it wasn't your fault and even if you are 100% better now- you might never be insurable on the indiviual health market because that car accident gave you a pre-existing condition.

I nominate you as President Trump's health Czar. Seriously, there is a lot of truth in what you said and people need to take better control of their own health and wellness program.

How is this worthless rant relevant to millions of people who have pre-existing conditions due to autoimmune problems,. genetic diseases, or diseases caused by environment? There are literally millions of people with health problems beyond their control, no matter what diet they choose to eat.
