Both parties were unanimous in that vote. True colors. Keep that in mind the next time you feel the need to excoriate the opposition. Otherwise you will just demonstrate hypocrisy yourself.
Did I not include the vote count? Thought that was pretty clear.
The right to keep deluding themselves that the USA is the "leader" of the free world, while countries that provide for ALL of their citizens, like Finland and Norway, are completely kicking our ass when it comes to quality of life and standard of living.
The people crying about "higher taxes" have never seen what society can look like when those taxes are actually put to good use to benefit the population as a whole. And they forget that the programs they would be paying for will benefit THEM as well as the "have nots."
Be careful, you might be called a socialist or even communist because of this comment even though it is completely unwarranted.
Well, duh. Republicans control government these days, so they should have been able to pass this.
Big question remains if this will actually be better.
My guess, given how Republicans govern and stances they have taken on healthcare in the past, is that it won't be. And that's because Republicans don't view access to basic healthcare as a right and take an "everyone for him/herself" approach. That does not work with healthcare.
Obama Care was probably the worst piece of legislation in American history. The only people who want to keep Obama Care are the ones who do not understand the concept of insurance and freedom of choice in selecting a health care plan.
There was money in the plan to keep insurers in the market when they were experiencing heavy losses as they did in Arizona, little Marco killed the funding of that in order to make the ACA fail.
The CBO scored the prior one (this one is far worse). They estimated a 15-20% increase in in premiums for the next 2 years, and then a decrease after that to below current levels...BUT they warned that young people leaving the market could cause those decreases to never happen.
Basically folks you voted for worse insurance, at higher rates, and at VASTLY higher rates as you age.
What you heard was that in the future rates would go down. What you didn't listen to were all the preconditions for that, and that if you were older the rates would explode.
So die young, die fast! Still the republican motto.
My gut tells me that if this passes it will amount to a faustian bargain for the Republicans, we will see. Like a wish made on a monkey's paw.
Good imagery.
