Cruel to the poor? This is the Democrat's version of compassion.

Socioeconomic mobility is higher in evil leftist California than it is in conservative utopia North Carolina.

It is simply the mentality of "Let them eat cake". The Republicans are so out of touch with the average person that it isn't even funny.

As are the Dems...especially when it comes to common sense. No major party in this country has our best interests in mind.

Have mentioned this before; to understand why Republicans, conservatives and others are so "hard" on the poor and so forth you must know and understand the Protestant Work Ethic.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protes...stant_theology

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pr..._of_Capitalism

Why the Protestant Work Ethic Is a Menace to Society | Alternet

Unlike say the Roman Catholic religion which promises blessings and rewards in the afterlife as a recompense for suffering in this one; Protestants have none of that. Rather one's status on earth is related to thrift, hard work, and personal responsibility. If one works hard, saves, plans carefully, lives within one's means and so forth "blessings" are bestowed in *this* world. To wit; the acumination of wealth and financial security. Again whereas say the RC religion (supposedly) abhors capitalism and or the pursuit of wealth, Protestants see things quite differently. That "wealth" is proof of one's hard work and so forth.

To followers of PWE the "poor" are so because they are "lazy" and a host of other moral failings. In any event they decry redistribution of their hard earned money/wealth to support those who are "undeserving" somehow. Where charity does exist those who follow PWE believe it should be given for a limited amount of time, not be overly generous or given too often, and those receiving should be doing something in (work) in return.

While the Roman Catholic religion for instance is famous for doing all sort of charity work among the poor usually asking nothing in return, Protestants both in Europe and North American gave us things like work houses.

In the United States and perhaps UK the PWE has morphed into perhaps a "conservative" point of view; which is not surprising since for generations WASP were the ones running things for generations.

Far as many conservatives see things the "poor" are grubby, lazy and their lot in life is totally their own fault. They detest anything such as taxes, charity or whatever that will aid the aforementioned in efforts to get hands on "their hard earned money".

Coming from the group that ran such an out of touch candidate that Trump won, let me repeat that, Trump won. That is how out of touch the DNC is.

The DNC should have trounced him. It shouldn't have even been a contest yet alone a loss.

Agree, it should have been a complete runaway....like ANY time the Yankees play the Red Sox.

But meanwhile, Hillary thinks that she was SO much better than Trump, yet a last minute press conference from the FBI director that 50% of the country probably never saw she claims had an impact? Lets not forget that a TON of people voted early with mail in ballots, but yeah Hillary, if the election was on Oct 27th you would have won...right.

It's because they are sociopaths and they derive enjoyment from causing others pain. That's why poor white trash vote Republican, they think that they are causing the less fortunate pain, even though they are less fortunate themselves. That's where denial comes in, to say nothing of a steady drip of indoctrination and brainwashing by an ever present propaganda machine (FOX, AM radio, countless websites, etc., etc.).

See: North Korea.

Both major parties are cruel to the poor and middle class. Welfare in the US is the least generous of any developed country. The gap between rich and poor is the greatest in the developed world. College education is the most expensive in the world making social mobility hardest to attain. The dems will toss a bone to the poor every now and then. The cons would just rather let them starve to death.
