I mean other then outbreaks of disease like is going on in Minnesota and coming to the United States and having third-world birth-rates what purpose does it serve?
Thanks to the Clinton's and Democratic refugee programs and ultra-liberal refugee settlement organizations there is now a measles outbreak in Minneapolis that is spreading through the entire community and it's spreading into the general non-Somali population.
A lot of refugees are doctors, scientists, and engineers just to mention a few. They serve in our Military swearing to defend the Constitution. All in all, they do far more to benefit the country than trump and his trumpanzies.
Very few refugees have those occupations. And even if they were a "doctor" in thier homeland, that doesn't automatically get them a license to practice in the US, as our standards and training are far higher thankfully than the countries refugees come from. Get a clue.
There is no loyalty to your fellow countrymen in your post whatsoever. With enough opinions like that the concept of the nation-state with borders will be toast, and you can let the third world and thier inferior ways flood in and make America nothing it once resembled. And I'm not being unfairly critical in saying their ways are inferior. Life expectancy below 50, rampant disease, lack of infrastructure, illiteracy, the list goes on.

If they don't want to be here then they should have stayed in their home country, fighting to make it a better place. And the fact that their heart lies with another country and not the US is yet more reason they shouldn't be here.

I think one of the hardest things a person can accomplish within themselves is putting that shoe on the other foot and thinking of a situation, what if this was them; what would they do?

And before you think they are here for the hand outs, in the ME countries they file an income tax refund, not an income tax payable to their government.
Now if a fight, a war broke out in the states and tanks come rolling in from all four corners, fight? or flight? wouldn't know the answer to that before being put into that situation and I hope to God I never have to answer that question.

Both parents are highly educated. I work for a state government as a court stenographer and own my own home and am fluent in both my native Eastern European tongue as well as English, of course. Immigrants make this country a joy to live in. And you can bet I've voted Democratic.
That's the sad and ironic part of this whole thing. You fled a socialist corrupt country and then you come here and vote for the same failed government because they will fight for the people and promise you free stuff. That's why we don't want massive influx of 3rd worlders.

Does ignorance run in your family, or is it just you? Doctors, Scientists, Engineers etc escaping the violence in their country were often educated in the U.S. I'm sure they're capable applying for refugee status.
Here's a couple of Refugees who seemed to have been successful in the U.S. Henry Kissinger and Madeline Albright, both of whom became Secretaries of State. I would guess that they understood how to apply for refugee status.
Then of course there are those refugees who are now enlisted in the United States Armed Services. Using your logic, those serving in our Armed Services must be illiterate.
That is so ill-informed. When my dad was a refugee from Communist Eastern Europe in the 50s, he had an engineering degree from one of the top universities in Hungary.
Your dad is not a real refugee. The people who are really in danger are being slaughtered by the thousands. Only the rich have a way to escape.

Gee, I never thought about it that way. I guess, then, than anyone with an education who happened to have grown up and lived all their life in what became a war-torn country would not have become a refugee, they would have... what? Done "something" so that all that was left in the war-torn country was the illiterates? Yeah, sure.
