"Washington is working to push through contracts for tens of billions of dollars in arms sales to Saudi Arabia, some new, others in the pipeline, ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's trip to the kingdom this month, people familiar with the talks told Reuters this week."
And...
"The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the negotiations, which also include previously reported contracts or items under discussion for years. One such deal, an $11.5 billion package of four multi-mission surface combatant ships and accompanying services and spares, was approved by the State Department in 2015."
You folks are blasting the GOP, when really this is Obama's original deal with a couple baubles thrown in by Trump.
Just a reminder that the Republican Corporatists love war and chaos.
News broke last night we are entering into a new agreement with the Saudis to sell them billions of dollars of weapons. The same saudis that commit tons of crimes against their own people. The saudis who have slaves build their cities. The Saudi's who spend hundreds of millions spreading Sharia Law around the world.
Wake up. 12 months ago all any right wingers on here could write is "Corporatist Hillary loves those Saudi's! I saw the emails! We aren't the world's policemen!"
Now no one seems to care. At that, those same people cheer trump like some kind of hero. Pretty sick stuff.
Are any of Trump's Kool-Aid drinkers criticizing Trump for not putting Saudi Arabia, a country whose citizens have been responsible for many deaths by terrorism in the US, on his travel ban list while the citizens of the countries on the list have been responsible for exactly 0 deaths by terrorism in the US?
No, because people who think about it understand that the only countries on the list were ones with no effective government or record keeping, therefore there is no way to properly vet people from those countries. Saudi Arabia is not our friend, but they're not our enemy either. The country has a functioning security apparatus, and I assume good record keeping. The problem with the Saudis is they spread their horrendous version of Islam all over the world. It sucks that they control so much oil because otherwise they would still be minor players on the world stage.
Sure, if only all the other countries would get out of it too. In a perfect world everyone would give up all weapons, but it has never happened nor would it ever happen in the future. People have been making weapons since man learned to make tools.

Saying, "they did it too" is not a good argument. I'm not arguing to give up all arms. We have to have a defense.
I think it messed up Trump would visit Riyadh in the first place. Why must would do business with anyone in the middle east. Particularly sell tons of weapons!
Tons of people held against their own will died making many of these building. Trump says we can sell $300bn worth of weapons to the royal family and we wonder why we can't seem to find any friends in the middle east ever.
