Given the family name and neighborhood, this is likely a Hispanic gang thing.
Gangs have been a problem for as long as there have been cities. I pretty much figured it was Hispanic gang members when I looked at the demographics of the neighborhood. How this turned into something about Blacks and BLM, well, it shows this. There are those who don't think rationally, or bother to look things up. Even I nearly fell into that trap.

Local alderman summed up this particular incident well when he said: " No innocent lives were lost".

Chicago alderman stands by comments despite gang threats, police protection - Chicago Tribune

Local WGN Radio interviewed him about his remark.

According to him," this was a gang memorial and the deceased's gang used social media to taunt an opposing gang. No surprise when the opposing team burst out of an alley and unloaded their AR 15 weapons on the crowd.

These are community terrorists who recruit young kids and supply them with guns and encourage short fuses". Alderman says "there is nothing the Police or Mayor or Governor or Trump can do about it. It has to come from within the community".

"No innocent lives were lost".

200 gun homicides and counting thus far this year. More than 1000 injured. Unlike this situation, many of those shot, YTD, were innocent people in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
