Let me explain what I mean. We keep pouring billions of dollars into researching ways to keep people alive who otherwise would be dead. And it's working. Most people walking around today are basically zombies. Diabetes? AIDS? Hepatitis? You can have all of those diseases and stay alive if you have enough money or if someone else is paying for you. Almost no one is actually able to "afford" these keep-you-alive treatments. You have to be Bill Gates to afford AIDS medication. But it seems ridiculous to think that everyone person, including the random homeless drug addict who gets AIDS, deserves to have everyone else spend millions just to keep him alive. We either need to stop coming out with new treatments or we need to stop paying for these treatments.
