Along with what others have stated leftist ideology is a failure. Did you know what the growth in life expectancy has shrunk by 2/3rds since Obamacare was enacted.
So people would live longer if we went back to healthcare through bankruptcy.

This reminds me why I hardly ever come here. You want me to be "that guy" ... the classic conservative you've been preparing for so that you can recite the predictable progressive scolding. I'm not that guy but you don't read very carefully or more likely you just don't care that I'm not even close to being a typical conservative. The truth is that liberals are so rigidly orthodox these days that if someone differs with them on a single point of their inflexible dogma then they're labeled a "conservative" and the usual shaming begins about being wealthy, heartless and devoid of compassion or understanding for the poor. There's nothing I've said that puts me in that category but it doesn't matter. I'm clearly not an ideologically pure progressive so I get the screed read to me. You guys are a trip. It would be so refreshing if I could find a liberal to talk to who still had an independent streak and a shred of critical thinking left in them.

I feel you. The left has become a bunch of mindless robots, which is why the right actually annoys me less these days. Overall, I identify with left-wing American politics more than right-wing American politics, but the left has gone completely bonkers the last 10 years or so. I think a lot of it has to do with technology, which makes it even easier to heard the sheep if you know what I mean.
It's funny how someone like myself that isn't religious and completely socially liberal, anti-war and a hard core environmentalist/conservationist is is labeled "that guy" as well the second I say that I don't feel bad or responsible for poor people.

I care about veterans, working people, kids, education, the environment, healthcare and quality of life. I'm not ashamed of those things, nor should I be.

So, in this forum i see "leftie" used as an insult. And i ask: what is wrong with wanting equality and social justice? Why the fact that lefties want to help the less fortunate makes THEM the problem. Isnt the problem the system in where this less fortunate people dont fit? How can the people that want to help be the problem and be used as an insult?

I've worked in a few and notice they lack ambition, self-discipline and personal goals to help them move up to a higher paying position. Some people I've worked with have stuck around for 10 years, few of them 20. They have been given options to advance but refuse to and make up every single excuse in the book. Now their wages are stagnating and complain they're poor and don't make that much money.
